Dave Mitrani is a member at Sandler Reiff Lamb Rosenstein & Birkenstock, P.C., primarily focused on federal, state, and local campaign finance and advocacy laws, as well as on non-profit tax laws.

Dave advises federal, state, and local candidates, political committees and ballot measure committees, state parties, labor unions, corporations, and other groups on the best ways to navigate the complexities of federal, state, and local campaign finance, lobbying, pay-to-play, and advocacy laws.

Dave also advises non-profit organizations on the correct structure and tax-exempt status to meet their goals, as well as advises on the scope of permissible political activities, charitable solicitations, corporate governance issues, and securing tax-exempt status with the IRS.

Dave also advises advocacy organizations, non-profit groups, and others on compliance with federal, state, and local lobbying, gift, and ethics laws.

Dave specializes in the intersections of all aspects of Political Law: these complex intersections require complex systems – Dave assists organizations, both local and national, with setting up systems to educate staff and consultants on ways to comply with this growing web of regulation, and to track the data required for public reporting.

Dave is widely quoted on campaign finance issues, appearing in CNN, The New York Times, Politico, Reuters, Roll Call, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, and other outlets.

Prior to joining Sandler Reiff, Dave served as the Communications Director for Tommy Sowers, a congressional candidate in Southeastern Missouri, and worked for the communications departments of the Democratic Congressional and Senatorial Campaign Committees, and for the research department of the Democratic National Committee.

Dave graduated magna cum laude from the George Washington University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, and from the George Mason University School of Law.  He is admitted to the Bar in Virginia and in the District of Columbia.

Dave lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife Lorelei and their Corgi, Rudi.
